Paramedic & Fire - Response time is challenged, amongst the longest in the country. This issue needs to improve. The front lines in these departments are heroes but they require more support, equipment, resources, and training.
The physical and mental wellness of our first responders is paramount. More support, resources and education is required to assist our heroes. Firefighters are exposed to carcinogens to such an extent that they risk occupational cancer. Ryback will continue to advocate for improved workplace safety measures.
Paramedic service is challenged with longer transport distances due to the closure of some emergency rooms and with the time to complete the patient transfer once arriving at the ER. Opiate overdoses are increasing.
Ryback has appeared before the Community Services Standing Policy Committee and in the Media advocating for the RETURN OF THE 2-PERSON APPARATUS in place of a full Firetruck with 4 Responders.
AS OF JUST RECENTLY TWO 2-PERSON UNITS HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED!
