THE CHALLENGE (what's happening)
The failure of the new transit routes. The initial spine-feeder route plan was first revealed in April 2021. I reviewed it then and April 16, 2021 was my first presentation as a delegate. All the issues I identified became a reality when the plan was implemented. I suggested extensive public consultation and trial runs. Public engagement was minimal and the plan was not adequately tested. Fortunately feeder service on six St. James-Assiniboia roads was reinstated as a result of my advocacy and communication with residents. More changes need to be made and I will continue to provide recommendations. Fred Morris and I authored and promoted the petition to restore direct transit service to Grace Hospital. We have a partial victory but there are still concerns. Council must conduct new public engagement sessions with residents and Winnipeg Transit to identify issues and solutions.
