THE CHALLENGE
A crumbling infrastructure - A large portion of the roads, backlanes and sidewalks are old and deteriorating. Multiple projects cause traffic congestion. There are road and sidewalk safety issues. Personal injury and vehicle damage is on the rise.
WHY IT MATTERS
People and commerce rely on transportation everyday. Poor road conditions impede travel and lead to accidents and damages, affecting lives daily and leading to mounting losses. The same pot holes are filled too often or not at all. It is taking too long for repairs and replacement.
KELLY'S PLAN
Road and sidewalk renewal need to receive a higher priority. City crews and contractors need to be held more accountable for the quality of work and the timeliness to complete projects. Construction and repair methods need to be reviewed and compared to other equivalent jurisdictions in order to identify and implement best practices for our use and environment.
